about

This was one of the first tracks written for the album. I had about twenty different verses for it, and as a lyricist, there's a real danger of just over-doing it, lyrically. I think I still added far too many verses. It still sounds like a demo to me, and that's just fine, I guess. There's not much I can do about it now, and perhaps I knew it was supposed to be 'unfinished sounding' all along. I played this track with Drew Land, the drummer, about a thousand times, with just bass and drums. We had it sounding great a few times. Really raunchy, messy and punk-ish. Perhaps I should have geared it more to sound like our rehearsals? Ah well.

lyrics

‘Continuity Error’

I’m dying in the space between the stars
In the redundant swirl of galaxies
In the void where we come apart
Stretching out for infinity
But I still own a piece of your heart
I still own a piece of you
I still own a piece of your heart
I still own a piece of

Sightless in the mess, collected taint
The building blocks of our mystery
Dividing like a blooming flower
I am the honey to your swarm of bees
But I still own a piece of your heart
I still own a piece of you
I still own a piece of your heart
I still own a piece of

Captured in the webs of memory
To the chambers underneath our streets
Safely hidden from the swollen sun
To expose our true mode of means
But I still own a piece of your heart
I still own a piece of you
I still own a piece of your heart
I still own a piece of

Silent in the place where I remember you
Like a film set upon a pond
Like a flesh that surrounds a pit
Hidden are depths of your art
But I still own a piece of your heart
I still own a piece of you
I still own a piece of your heart
I still own a piece of

I’m dying in the space between the scars
On the moments that are blistering
Lost my lines and I’ll lose the plot
In the pursuit of a captivity
When the desperation starts to fade
When the wheel begins to slowly spin
When the light reveals to illustrate
Where a whisper now becomes a din

I still own a piece of your heart
I still own a piece of you
