This was one of the first tracks written for the 'Passwords' LP. All I had was a broken, little guitar riff. I hadn't played for a couple years and it sounded awful. I bought some new equipment for the new sessions, and this riff was an entire accident. I tuned everything down a half step to E-flat, giving the riff a more 'Black Sabbath-y' sound, and all the other parts fell into place, surrounding what was supposed to be E Major.
I'm interested in how critical inner-voices can sometimes be, and how it's overpowering in the mental illness of Schizophrenia, to keep the lyrical content story short and sweet.
lyrics
You're not good enough
You know you never were
I'll try to rep-lic-ate your broken words
You know there's nothing to say
And now there's nothing left to solve
You're not good enough
You're not good enough
You can hear through the walls
Coming at you in-from-the-streets
You know it's never enough
There is nothing to have
There is nothing to hold
You're not good enough
You're not good enough
You can feel it in the earth
With every step that makes a sound
It was never heard
Something of a loss
There was something to lose
But you're not good enough
You're not good enough
Oh, I'm crashing in those waves again
Oh, I'm crashing with those waves again
Oh, I'm crashing in those waves again
Oh, I'm crashing with those waves again
