"I wanted to give it the Sense of Scenery-basic-gloomy-hollow-sound foundation, then a sinister side---a more Joy Division roughness, and combine it with the machine-like, danceable melodic quality of New Order. I recorded two different drummers, and then sampled the two parts. In the end I had 77 individual drum tracks. The final mix was a quick, panicked death, and it was painful to let go of the obsession."
